In de serie Hollandse Nieuwe (2023) onderzoek ik hoe nationale identiteit en erfgoed zich verhouden tot hedendaagse diversiteit. Wat het betekent trots te zijn op je afkomst zonder te vervallen in nationalisme? In mijn foto's daag ik de simplistische veelal overdereven stereotypen rond erfgoed uit . Bewust onderbreek ik die historische associaties, omdat ze niet langer een accurate weergave van de huidige samenleving zijn. Door toegenomen migratie en culturele uitwisseling wordt zo het begrip ‘Nederlands zijn’ opnieuw gedefinieerd. Mijn werk vraagt zich af: wat betekent het nu echt om Nederlands te zijn? Ik nodig de kijker uit om zijn of haar eigen voorstellingen van nationale identiteit te heroverwegen.
Blessed Be the Fruit is a series of hand-cut collages and later photographed. Exploring the fragile and often loaded subject of female fertility. Both mystical and socially judged, fertility is portrayed here as a complex force. Through layered imagery of fruit, bodies, and botanical forms, she reflects on the expectations placed on women. In these surreal still life works, she creates a quiet meditation on identity, sexuality, and the often unspoken weight of fertility narratives Exhibited at WORM, Rotterdam, 2019
